Join Us in Scientific Innovation Through Sound
The Accessibility Research Centre (ARC) is a leading centre at IIT Madras focused on improving accessibility and inclusivity in education through innovation and technology.
This competition is part of our Extended Reality (XR) project aimed at exploring new frontiers of science through sound and multi-sensory learning. We are experimenting with AR and VR technology to teach science at the foundational level and we will demonstrate our project at the Museum during the event.
Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre (TNSTC) was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu in the year 1983, registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act 1975, with the main objective of popularizing science and technology among the people in general and students in particular.
Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre has been rendering excellent educational services throughout the state by conducting various academic and cocurricular activities.
This competition is part of our Extended Reality (XR) project aimed at exploring new frontiers of science through sound and sensory learning.
Sound sculpting is the art of representing realities, objects, and experiences through sound. Due to their natural instinct for connecting with sounds, children enjoy deploying them in accessing science.

Students from classes 6 - 11 are encouraged to come up with innovative science projects using sound. The projects can include the use of musical instruments, nature sounds, everyday objects around us to recreate or explain scientific concepts and phenomenon. Each team can have 3 -5 participants. Each school can send up to 5 entries.
The school children are requested to send audio files of their sound sculpting submissions of 2-5 minutes duration. This should include a detailed description of the project through audio narrations in their own voices and in any language of their choice.
The teams should not copy digital sounds from the internet or any other secondary source. We discourage the students from using AI generated sounds.
Your audio submissions must have two components.
1. Science Innovation Award of Rs. 50,000 will be awarded to the school with the most creative and innovative project.
2. 2nd prize of Rs. 20,000 will go to the runner-up.
